Tractor Supply will host a “Home for the Holidays” pet adoption event at its two Clovis locations on Saturday, Dec. 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The four-hour event aims to connect rescue animals with permanent homes while offering seasonal activities for shoppers and families. Community pet adoption events generally increase adoptions and help reduce shelter populations, especially when combined with reduced fees and streamlined processes. Each completed adoption comes with a $25 Tractor Supply gift card, and the stores will run promotions and attractions intended to draw people to the adoption tables.
The events will take place at Tractor Supply, 1630 Herndon Ave., and 3682 E. Shaw Ave., where local rescue partners will showcase adoptable animals. Rescue Tails is listed as the partner at the Herndon Avenue store, while ACT Animal Compassion Team and Labrador Retriever Rescue will be stationed at the Shaw Avenue location. These organizations collaborate to boost the chances of animals finding homes, leveraging effective on-site promotion and community involvement.
“Caring for pets and serving the Clovis community are at the core of what we do,” said Jerry Gillin, district manager. His statement framed the event as a community-focused effort to help animals find homes. To bolster their efforts even further, individuals can support local animal rescue organizations year-round by adopting pets, donating money or much-needed supplies, and volunteering their time.
Patrick Henley, regional vice president, said: “It’s a way to show appreciation for our customers during a season of giving while helping animals in need find their forever homes.” The remarks underline the dual aim of the initiative: customer engagement and animal welfare. However, it’s worth noting that research suggests that about 7% to 20% of adopted pets typically return to shelters within the first six months, highlighting the importance of thorough adoption processes and support for new pet owners.
Organizers are also promoting festive activities during the event, including a “Buy a Bag, Donate a Bag” drive, Pet Photos with Santa and a Kid’s Ornament Craft. Under the promotion, for every bag of Purina Pro Plan purchased during the event, Tractor Supply will donate an additional bag to participating rescues; photo and craft activities will run while supplies last.
Rescue partners will bring animals available for adoption, with the outcome for animals at the event intended to be adoption into permanent homes. The gathering is described in local notices as an opportunity for families to meet animals in person and complete adoptions on site with incentives provided by the host retailer. Community adoption events like this one are part of broader efforts that aim to increase adoptions and reduce shelter populations; studies of such events have shown that strategies like free or low-cost adoptions can significantly improve outcomes.
Tractor Supply’s pairing with Rescue Tails, Animal Compassion Team (ACT) and Labrador Retriever Rescue brings together three local rescue organizations and the national retailer for a single-day push to place animals into homes. The organizers frame the event as a way to involve customers directly in seasonal giving while offering tangible support to rescue groups.
For residents planning to attend, the event runs during regular daytime hours on Saturday, Dec. 13, at the two Clovis addresses provided by Tractor Supply. Adopters will receive the $25 gift card at the time of a completed adoption to help with initial supplies.
