Hudson Yards will host free monthly Paw Play Days dog meetups in the Public Square and Gardens this summer, featuring treats, giveaways and adoption parties in partnership with Rescue City and Animal Haven.
The series is aimed at bringing owners and their dogs together for an afternoon of activities and to spotlight adoptable animals from local shelters, with free samples from The Farmer’s Dog and a special offer for a free trial of their food for attendees.
The events take place in Hudson Yards, the development located between 10th and 12th Avenues from West 30th to West 34th Streets, using the Public Square and Gardens as the gathering space for owners, dogs and shelters.
Organizers promise a “tail-wagging afternoon” that combines simple perks for pets and people with opportunities for animal rescue groups to connect directly with potential adopters. The gatherings will include treats, giveaways and other special experiences designed for pups and their humans, and will feature dog adoption parties presented in partnership with Rescue City and Animal Haven.
Rescue City and Animal Haven will stage adoption tables and meet-and-greet areas so attendees can meet “adorable, adoptable dogs” in person, the organizers say; the presence of shelter partners aims to streamline introductions between animals and prospective adopters in a relaxed, public setting.
Food brand programming is part of the lineup: attendees can sample products from The Farmer’s Dog and take home a special offer for a free trial of the company’s food. Event materials describe the sampling as one of several free perks available during the meetups.
Listings and event details appear on outlets that publish local event calendars, including Time Out New York and platforms such as Urban Dog, which provide schedules and logistical information for visitors planning to attend.
Organizers describe the meetups as open, accessible community activations designed to encourage interaction between residents, visitors and local rescues. The combination of light entertainment, free product samples and adoption opportunities is intended to make the shelter animals more visible to people who might otherwise not visit a rescue or shelter facility.
For owners and prospective adopters, the events offer a chance to evaluate temperament in a public, social setting, meet shelter staff and learn about adoption procedures directly from partner organizations. Rescue City and Animal Haven will be on site to answer questions and facilitate introductions to dogs participants express interest in meeting.
The monthly gatherings form part of Hudson Yards’ summer programming for its Public Square and Gardens, and are billed as family-friendly, dog-focused afternoons that combine simple pleasures—treats and giveaways—with concrete adoption opportunities for local rescues.
