The Tibetan Mastiff hails from Tibet and was bred as a guard dog for property and livestock. This is a hard-working, patient, and understanding breed that adore their humans. Their history as guardians makes them protective and loyal family dogs – their large size alone makes them great watchdogs! Though they are intelligent, the Tibetan Mastiff is independent and can be stubborn, so early and consistent training is necessary. If they are socialized with children at an early age, they will get along well with them. A home with young children is not necessarily advised as they can become protective of the child and not allow their friends to visit. Early socialization will help with their weariness of outsiders and strangers. This loving and gentle breed will make a wonderful companion to anyone looking for an interesting adventure!
