A small dog with a big personality, the Yorkshire Terrier is known for their elegant looks and loving personality. Affectionately called “Yorkies”, they are true companions and love to be around their families. Thanks to their terrier heritage, they can be weary of strangers and will bark at anything suspicious – making them great watchdogs. Yorkies can also be suspicious of strange dogs, so early socialization is necessary. They require a lot of attention and do not do well being left alone for long periods of time. Due to their small size, Yorkies do best in homes with older children. Their small size does make them perfect for apartment dwellers, though. The Xoloitzcuintli (pronounced “show-low-eats-queent-lee”), also known as the “Mexican Hairless” may be descendants from the first dogs on the North American continent. The Wolfdog is a domestic dog and wolf hybrid. There are three “types” of Wolfdogs, Low Content (LC), Mid Content (MC), and High Content (HC). Low content Wolfdog’s are 1-49% wolf, 50%-74% wolf is mid content, and 75%+ is high content. The higher the wolf content, the more wolf-like they will be. Wolfdog’s are smarter than their “domestic” companions and can be quite challenging and stubborn. They are self-aware and have a “what’s in for me?” attitude. But, many mid-to-low content Wolfdogs are sociable, willing to please, and generally friendly. Low content Wolfdogs are the most outgoing and friendly. They are the easiest to train and will do well with children and other dogs. Mid content Wolfdogs are still outgoing but can be a bit more fearful than low content ones. They are also a bit harder to train and will need extra socialization to help with their shyness. High content Wolfdogs are generally indistinguishable from wolves and the hardest to train and socialize as “house pets”. They are normally not recommended for first time Wolfdog (or domestic dog) owners due to their strong similarities to wolves. But, with the right family, a low to mid content Wolfdog will make a wonderful companion!< p>

The Westiepoo is a cross between the West Highland White Terrier and the Toy Poodle. They are a true companion dog and love nothing more than to be around their family. Their small size make them suitable for apartment dwellers but should be supervised around young children (though they do get along well with children). Their friendly demeanor extends to other dogs as well. They are a loyal breed and will make a good watchdog – barking at any suspicious sound or person. The Westiepoo is a curious breed and like to explore their surroundings – sometimes getting into things they shouldn’t. They are intelligent, though, and will be a quick learner with early and consistent training.
