America’s most popular breed, the Labrador Retriever was originally bred to help fishermen by hauling nets, fetching ropes, and retrieving fish. Intelligent and athletic, the Labrador Retriever is family dog through and through. They are sweet-natured and love to be around their families. They get along great with other dogs and children. The Labrador Retriever excels at pretty much any job they have – whether that is search and rescue or a therapy dog. But there is one job this breed does not do well at: a watchdog. The Labrador is too friendly to make a good watchdog – they’d rather help an intruder than scare them off!
