With the nickname the “daredevil”, the Irish Terrier is a courageous and loyal breed. This medium-sized dog has a tough terrier attitude and is always on guard. That said, the Irish Terrier is a brilliant people dog – when provided with early socialization. When raised with children (or socialized with early on), they make great playmates. They tend to be weary of other dogs, though, thanks to their fearless and challenging attitude. Their extreme loyalty and fearlessness make them wonderful watchdogs – alerting their families if any strangers are near. The Irish Setter is intelligent, but being a terrier means they need early and consistent training. But, this breeds spunky attitude and devotion to their families make them great companions.
