Intelligent and well-tempered, the Great Pyrenees was bred to guard flocks with shepherds. They are a loving breed that will protect their home from anything they deem a threat. An intelligent breed, the Great Pyrenees loves to figure things out on their own - which is why early and consistent training is absolutely necessary. This breed has an uncanny ability to recognize a friend from a foe and will have no problem protecting their family. With early socialization, they make a great family companion – getting along well with both other dogs and children. They do love to bark, though, and will let you know how they are feeling – often pawing at you to show their love. This hardworking, gentle, and affectionate breed is a devoted family companion.
