This breed, as its name suggests, was originally bred in Australia. The Australian Labradoodle became popular in 1988. It is a cross between a Poodle and Labrador Retriever. While many breeders prefer to use the standard Poodle to cross-breed, others use a Toy Poodle or Miniature Poodle to achieve a smaller sized Australian Labradoodle. They were originally bred to be guide dogs, but today they are being adopted by many families mainly due to the fact that they are child-friendly and training them is also relatively easy. They get along with other dogs and are usually very sociable.< p>
