Four animals — including two dogs named Nadia and Snow Bear — were surrendered to Fulton County Animal Services in Fulton County, Georgia, after their owner was evicted. This situation is unfortunately common, as some shelter studies and industry reports attribute a significant share of owner surrenders to housing-related issues such as eviction and loss of housing, though specific percentages vary by study and location.
Shelter staff shared a video of the dogs on December 8 that highlighted the bond between them, and the clip has prompted social media interest and offers of support. The animals remain at Fulton County Animal Services and are listed as available for adoption.
The two dogs were shown curled up on the same bed inside a kennel, each resting a head on the other’s body, a scene staff described when posting the video. Nadia sat facing the window and appeared to watch volunteer Brian Kichton with what staff described as sad eyes.
Volunteer Brian Kichton, affiliated with Fulton County Animal Services, urged help for animals in the shelter. “We need fosters and adopters desperately at all times,” he said. He also commented on the pair’s behavior, noting, “This bonded pair comforting each other at Fulton Animal Services.” Some shelter professionals and anecdotal reports suggest that keeping well-bonded animals together may help reduce stress and ease adjustment, but systematic research on bonded pair adoptions is limited.
Staff identified Nadia as four years old, polite on a leash and good with children and other dogs. Snow Bear is five, described as leash trained and potty trained, good with kids, friendly with other dogs, and sometimes shy when meeting new people. Both dogs are being promoted as a bonded pair and the shelter is seeking a home that will take them together.
The video, posted December 8, shows the dogs finding comfort in one another at the shelter; online responses included TikTok users expressing interest in adopting and at least one person offering to sponsor their adoption. The clip was also embedded in coverage on outlets including Aol, which drew additional attention to the pair.
Fulton County Animal Services is housing the animals and handling inquiries about adoption. The shelter’s post emphasized the dogs’ attachment and encouraged potential adopters and fosters to consider taking the pair together, citing their close bond as a compelling reason to keep them united. Some sources claim that in certain shelter datasets, bonded pairs have been adopted a few days sooner on average than singly housed animals, but precise figures can vary by shelter and study.
Kichton added a brief reminder about how quickly circumstances can change for families and pets: “things can change quickly,” he said, using the shelter’s post to underline the urgency in finding them a placement. Communities can support local animal shelters like Fulton County during times of crisis by donating funds or supplies, adopting or fostering animals, and volunteering for various needs.
The intake involved four animals overall, with Nadia and Snow Bear the two dogs highlighted because of their bonded status and the video that followed their surrender. Fulton County Animal Services continues to facilitate adoptions for animals in its care.
