The Xoloitzcuintli (pronounced “show-low-eats-queent-lee”), also known as the “Mexican Hairless” may be descendants from the first dogs on the North American continent. Hailing from Mexico and Central America, the Xoloitzcuintli were “doctors”, comforting ill people by keeping them warm with their body heat. This unique looking breed is both intelligent and lively and comes in three sizes – small, medium, and large. They have a moderate exercise level and a calm personality. The Xoloitzcuintli is a protective breed and will make a great guard dog, especially if they think a family member is in danger. Early socialization will help them get along with children and other dogs. They are intelligent, but will require early and consistent training. If you’re looking for a dog with a unique look and a unique personality, the Xoloitzcuintli is for you!< p>
