Treeing Walker Coonhound Rescue Organizations In All States

The Treeing Walker Coonhound descends from the English Foxhound and was formerly known as the English Coonhound. The Treeing Walker Coonhound got its name by being the fastest at trailing game, then keeping it in the tree until the hunter arrived. This is a breed with a lot of endurance and competitiveness. They thrive on human companionship and need plenty of exercise - perfect for an active family. Though they are intelligent, the Treeing Walker Coonhound can be stubborn, making early and consistent training a necessity. They also tend to bark – a lot – and would make a great watchdog but not a great neighbor. They generally have a happy and outgoing personality and get along well with children and other dogs, provided they are socially properly. If you’re looking for a breed with a distinct personality and a love for their family, the Treeing Walker Coonhound is perfect.
