A cross the between the Shih Tzu and Bichon Frise, the Shichon is a tried and companion dog with an affectionate and devoted personality. They love nothing more than to be with their family at all times. Though not barkers, per se, they do make good watchdogs and will alert you when a stranger is near. Because of their loyalty and love for their families, they do not do well being left alone for long periods of time and can suffer from separation anxiety. With early socialization, they will get along well with other animals as well as children – though younger children can pose a problem due to the Shichon’s small size. They are intelligent and will learn quickly with early and consistent training. The Shichon’s great personality and affectionate demeanor make them a wonderful family companion.
