Nicknamed the “Little Black Devil”, the Schipperke is fearless, clever, and curious. The Schipperke was bred in Belgium as a smaller version of a sheepdog. They are a small dog with a big personality. This breed is as loyal as they are intelligent. The Schipperke takes their role as a guard dog very seriously and will stop at nothing to protect their family. But their devotion is all out of love. The Schipperke loves to be around their family – especially children. They can be a bit weary of strangers, but early socialization can help. Though they are intelligent, the Schipperke can be a big challenging to train, especially since they have a stubborn side. But, with early and consistent training, this eager to please breed will learn in no time. The loving and humorous Schipperke makes an awesome companion for any family.
