Pekingese Rescue Organizations In All States

Descendants of the Imperial court of China, the Pekingnese is a distinct breed that was bred solely as a companion animal. Affectionate with its owners and always quite dignified in its mannerisms, this dog is rather low-energy and suitable for lifestyles ranging from the apartment to a large estate. The trademark long, fluffy coats need a lot of grooming – think an hour weekly – and the flat face has a fold above the nose that needs daily cleansing to prevent infection. The Pekingnese brings lots of joy to devoted owners, but they are not big fans of small children. This breed’s personality is often noted for its high self-esteem and demand for respect, and it can be difficult to train.
