If you are considering getting a Papillon, you'll want to check out the incredible book "The Complete Guide to Papillons". It's written in an easy-to-understand way but still has the expert knowledge to help any new owner successfully raise their Papillon from puppy to old-age. It's widely available, so pick up a copy if you see one, or click here to grab one on Amazon.
With distinctively long, perky ears and a boisterous personality, the Papillon catches eyes and wins hearts. Its name, Papillon, is French for ‘butterfly,’ and is homage to its trademark ears. Extremely intelligent and athletic, this sweet, small breed fits perfectly into many lifestyles. Its small size makes it appropriate for apartments, but be sure your little friend gets lots of exercise and training. They can be dismissive of proper housetraining protocols and tend toward nuisance barking … So much so they are sometimes called the “yappi Pappi.” The breed is also known for not heeding its own small size, so be careful around kids and larger dogs, but don’t limit its socializing – this cutie likes to make friends, whether human, canine or cat.
