A smaller version of the standard breed, the Miniature Dachshund makes an excellent watchdog, letting humans know when someone is near. They are easy to train and enjoy taking commands in order to please their masters. These little dogs do not require much exercise, and are ideal for city or apartment living. They get along well with children, and are a loving dog that families enjoy having. Grooming should be performed on a regular basis, since these dogs need to have their coats trimmed or stripped in order to keep shedding from getting out of hand. They are able to tolerate both hot and cold weather, making them adaptable to any climate.
