Known for being protective, loving and intelligent, the Mastiff is a popular pet for families. They need to be exercised to be kept as healthy as possible with an activity such as weight pulling. Although a loving dog, they can be stubborn and difficult to train, so they are not for new dog owners. Despite their large size, the Mastiff breed can do well in an apartment. Care must be taken for dog owners who live in hot areas; although the Mastiff can adjust to the cold with no issues, heat is a problem, and they must have air conditioning in the summer.
