Bred in Cuba as a companion dog, the Havanese is an affectionate and energetic breed that love their families. Often referred to as a “Velcro dog”, the Havanese are known to stick to their owners sides and love to be around anyone or anything (cats included). Because they are so attached to people, though, they do not do well when left alone for long periods of time. An intelligent breed, the Havanese is quite a good learner and excels in training. Though small, this breed has a lot of energy and does require quite a bit of exercise. All in all, the Havanese is a playful and quirky breed that makes a great family companion.
