If you are considering getting a Great Dane, you'll want to check out the incredible book "The Complete Guide to the Great Dane". It's written in an easy-to-understand way but still has the expert knowledge to help any new owner successfully raise their Great Dane from puppy to old-age. It's widely available, so pick up a copy if you see one, or click here to grab one on Amazon.
Though an imposing size, the Great Dane is actually one of the best-natured dogs. The Great Dane was originally bred to hunt wild boar but today, they are an affectionate and sweet breed that absolutely adores children, people, and other dogs. Their size alone will scare off any intruders, making them good watchdogs, as well as their loyal and protective nature. Their size can pose problems for smaller spaces but they are not a rowdy or rambunctious breed. The Great Dane will need early and consistent training as their size can make them impossible to manage when full grown. A true companion breed, the Great Dane does not do well being left alone for long periods of time. Overall, this breeds sweet disposition and love for human companionship makes them a wonderful pet.
