The largest of all the Setter’s, the Gordon Setter was originally bred to hunt quail and pheasant. An intelligent and active breed, the Gordon Setter is slow to mature and would stay a puppy their whole life if they could. Consistent and early training will help with their stubborn streak, though they are intelligent and will prove to be a great dog once trained. Loyal and protective, the Gordon Setter will make a great watchdog – though they can sometimes be weary of strangers. Early socialization will help them get along with other dogs and people. They are generally patient with children and make excellent family companions.
