Independent and tolerant, the Foxhound was bred to hunt in large packs. That pack mentality makes them a prime candidate for a multiple dog household. They are quite mild-mannered despite their size but they can be relentless when pursuing something worth chasing. Being a hound, this breed is very vocal. Foxhounds have a bell-like voice that can be heard miles away. They are very active dogs and need lots of exercise, so they are not suitable for apartment life. Their stubbornness and independence makes them difficult to train, but early and consistent training will help. The Foxhounds gentle and tolerant demeanor makes them wonderful family companions, especially with children.
