Independent and lively, the Finnish Spitz is the national dog of Finland and were originally bred as hunting dogs. They are an intelligent breed with an animated personality. They adore their families and get along great with children. Finnish Spitz’s are loyal companions and do make great watchdogs, though they hardly ever show aggression unless necessary. They are barkers, though, and will need to be trained to control that trait. Because they are independent and strong-willed, training a Finnish Spitz can pose a problem. They get bored quite easily and need short yet consistent training sessions. Finnish Spitz’s do take long to mature, and will remain puppy-like well into their adolescent years. But, their lively, spirited personality makes them wonderful family companions.
