The love of hunting runs deep in the Field Spaniel. A sporting breed, it is an expert bird flusher and is a top performer in field trials and tracking tests. In addition to its working prowess, these lovable canines are extremely family-friendly and affectionate toward those they’re closest to, while being a bit shy toward strangers. Field Spaniels have a lot of energy and a lot of intelligence, so owners need to be ready to engage them mentally and physically. It’s recommended to give them at least an hour-long walk a day, and training needs to be with a positive reinforcement philosophy as the breed trends toward sensitivity under harsh conditions.
