If you are considering getting a Chihuahua, you'll want to check out the incredible book "The Complete Guide to Chihuahuas". It's written in an easy-to-understand way but still has the expert knowledge to help any new owner successfully raise their Chihuahua from puppy to old-age. It's widely available, so pick up a copy if you see one, or click here to grab one on Amazon.

Originating from Mexico, the Chihuahua is known for being very loyal to one specific human that it imprints on. These little dogs often prefer the company of their own breed, and do not always adjust to multi-dog households easily. Care should be exercised with small children, since they might scare or provoke the dog. Chihuahuas love to burrow in the safety of a den, and enjoy cuddling up next to their human under blankets where they feel safe. They require monitoring when it comes to their health, since they are prone to dental issues due to their small jaws. They also have known issues with luxating patella and trachea problems. For this reason, they should wear a harness rather than a collar, to avoid a collapsed trachea.
