The Catahoula Bulldog is not officially recognized by any specific breeding organization. It is not considered a purebred, but rather a mix between the Catahoula Cur and the American Bulldog. This breed is used primarily as a working dog. It was bred specifically to be used in aggressive herding with pigs and cattle, as well as for bear hunting. Because of this, the Catahoula Bulldog is most popular in the southern regions of the United States. These dogs have been known to be very close to their humans and guard them, although they possess a calm demeanor. This mixed breed is generally healthy, with few hereditary problems.
