Bearded Collies are also simply called Beardies due to the appearance of their faces. They were originally bred to be used as herding dogs and were once only used by shepherds in Scotland. During the past few years, many have adopted these dogs as family companions because they are extremely family friendly, get along with children and are overall friendly dogs. They can live for as long as 15 years. Bearded Collies are known to be very intelligent and usually very active and self-confident. They can weigh as much as 27 kilograms and grow to an average height of 51 to 56 centimeters.< p>
