The Basset Hound is recognized by its long ears and short legs. These small breed dogs were originally developed to assist in the hunting of smaller prey, such as hares and rabbits. Due to the fact that they adapt so easily to their surroundings and are child-friendly, many families also adopt these dogs. They live up to 12 years and can weigh as much as 29 kilograms. The male Basset Hound usually grows around two centimeters taller than the female. This breed is very devoted and gentle. They are also tenacious, sweet-tempered and very affectionate towards their owners.
