Native to the Western part of Turkey, the Akbash dog breed is commonly used as a shepherd or guard dog. They are also officially recognized by the Turkish Kennel Club and are a national Turkish dog breed. Their lifespan ranges between 10 and 11 years. These dogs are very intelligent and loyal towards their owners. They are independent and able to stay obedient even when left alone for long periods of time. Akbash dogs can weigh up to 64 kilograms and be up to 86 centimeters in height. These dogs are also known to have especially good hearing abilities and superior strength.< p>
