Devoted and friendly, the Samoyed was originally bred to help Siberia’s Samoyede people hunt, herd reindeer, and pull sledges. Known for their signature smile, the Samoyed is a good-natured, happy-go-lucky dog that loves to be around their family. They are affectionate with everyone in the family and are particularly fond of children. Though intelligent, the Samoyed can be a bit difficult to train thanks to their strong-willed personality. Early and consistent training will certainly help, though. The Samoyed tends to be talkative – often voicing what they like or don’t like with anything from barks to howls. Keeping them busy will help with these tendencies. With their big, white, fluffy coat, the Samoyed makes a devoted and gentle family companion.
